Accounting - Youth Apprentice

Western Wisconsin Health is seeking an Accounting youth apprentice. The successful candidate will be oriented to pay invoices and provide backup support for the department, while learning skills in bookkeeping and accounting functions. All of this is done to support the organization's mission while living our values.

Work Schedule:

  • Minimum of 450 hours in a 12-month span (average of about 9 hours per week)
  • Hours are variable and scheduled within normal business hours based on department needs and apprentice availability; business hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School junior or senior

Occupational Competencies:

  • Maintain accounts
  • Store financial records
  • Assist to process checks
  • Process journal entries
  • Post journal entries
  • Balance accounts after recording transaction
  • Assist to prepare adjusting/closing entries
  • Prepare deposit
  • Assist to maintain fixed asset records
  • Apply accounting principles and processes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Critical thinking skills (foresight to preplanning of visits)
  • Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and electronic medical records
  • Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information
  • Display and promote high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational standards
  • Strong attention to detail
