Accounts and Tax Assistant Manager

The Role

This role is to manage a mixed portfolio of accounts and tax clients, from individuals through to corporate clients and owner managed businesses and to assist with managing the team.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, finalising the statutory accounts and submitting to Companies House;
  • Speaking to and advising clients and preparing the client’s file ahead of any meetings scheduled with the Partner;
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of clients, this includes dealing with client enquiries and assisting the Partner with future planning and queries as required;
  • Responsible for quoting fees, billing, raising invoices and WIP (Work In Progress);
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns;
  • Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns, including their submission to HMRC;
  • Preparing and reviewing self-assessment personal tax returns;
  • Support in business development initiatives, networking events and marketing the firms’ services;
  • Involved in new client meetings and supporting the onboarding process;
  • Reviewing work completed by wider team members; and
  • Supporting junior colleagues, delegating work and helping them with complex queries.

Requirements


We are looking for a proactive team player who enjoys building client relationships, solving problems, and helping deliver excellent accounts and tax services.

Qualifications

ACA or ACCA qualified (minimum); CTA highly desirable.

Experience
  • Experience managing a client portfolio is desirable; however, this role would also suit an individual looking to progress into managing their own portfolio;
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a broad portfolio of clients and meet competing deadlines;
  • Proven experience managing and prioritising workloads effectively;
  • Strong team-working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and adapt to changing priorities;
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential;
  • Experience using CaseWare, Sage, QuickBooks Online, or Xero would be
    advantageous; however, full training will be provided;
  • Experience supervising, reviewing, and supporting the work of junior team members; and
  • A minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience within a practice environment is essential.
