Accounts Manager / Assistant Accounts Manager
About the Role
Our client is a well-established property developer based in Johor, involved in residential and commercial development projects. They are currently seeking a hands-on Accounts Manager / Assistant Accounts Manager to oversee the full set of accounts and finance operations within a project-based environment.
This role requires an experienced finance professional from the property development industry who is able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Lead the timely closing of accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Management and Board review
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements
Project Accounting
- Monitor project costing, development expenditures, and progress billings
- Collaborate closely with Project and Contract teams to manage project budgets
- Track project performance and provide financial insights to support decision-making
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Manage company cash flow and liquidity position
- Monitor loan drawdowns and repayment schedules
- Liaise with financial institutions on project financing, facilities, and banking matters
General Accounting & Operations
- Oversee full set of accounts (AP, AR, GL) and month-end closing process
- Prepare audit and tax schedules and support annual audit process
- Supervise junior accounting staff (if applicable)
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers, and internal stakeholders
- Perform ad-hoc finance and accounting assignments as required
Requirements
- Must have minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/finance
- Must have experience in property development industry (mandatory)
- Strong exposure in full set accounts and project-based accounting, including development costing, progress billing, and project lifecycle
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision (no hand-holding required)
- Preferably with prior leadership or supervisory experience
- Detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to perform under tight reporting deadlines
- Based in or willing to relocate to Johor
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or MIA membership are highly advantageous
