Description

Accounts Payable Manager

Ensure Accuracy. Strengthen Controls. Lead the Process.

As our Accounts Payable Manager, you will lead Stinker’s accounts payable function and help ensure invoices, payments, vendor accounts, corporate credit cards, and related financial activity are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. This role is responsible for the day-to-day AP operation, team development, vendor relationships, payment processes, corporate credit card administration, account reconciliations, internal controls, and the systems and processes that support accounts payable.

You will partner closely with the Corporate Controller, Finance Team, and leaders across the organization to resolve issues, strengthen processes, reduce risk, and ensure our accounts payable practices support a growing, multi-entity organization.

We value collaboration, innovation, accountability, and leaders who continuously look for better ways to serve our employees, guests, and communities. If you enjoy developing people, improving processes, solving problems, and creating an efficient and well-controlled accounts payable operation, we'd love to meet you.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop the accounts payable team, setting clear expectations, priorities, and accountability.
  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, approvals, coding, payment processing, and vendor account maintenance.
  • Ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established policies and internal controls.
  • Review payment activity and support accurate recording of accounts payable transactions within the general ledger.
  • Oversee vendor account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and appropriate documentation to support financial reporting, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendor inquiries and escalated payment issues while maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and other accounts payable activities.
  • Oversee the administration of the company’s corporate credit card program, including card issuance and termination, credit limits, user access, documentation, policy compliance, transaction review, and timely reconciliation of credit card activity.
  • Establish and maintain accounts payable controls designed to protect company assets and reduce the risk of duplicate, inaccurate, or unauthorized payments.
  • Monitor accounts payable and corporate credit card activity for unusual or potentially fraudulent transactions and escalate concerns in accordance with established procedures.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and increase efficiency.
  • Oversee the administration and continuous improvement of accounts payable systems, workflows, and automation tools.
  • Coordinate payment timing and payment methods with Finance to support cash management objectives while maintaining positive vendor relationships.
  • Partner with Finance and other departments to resolve accounting and payment issues and promote consistent accounts payable practices across the organization.

You'll Thrive Here If You...

  • Lead with integrity, accountability, and sound judgment.
  • Create clarity for your team by setting priorities and communicating expectations effectively.
  • Stay organized and composed while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Take ownership of issues and follow them through to resolution.
  • Balance attention to detail with an understanding of the bigger financial picture.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, even when navigating challenging situations or competing needs.
  • Build trust and work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Remain adaptable and open to new ideas, technology, and ways of working.

About Stinker

Founded in 1936, Stinker is a family-owned convenience retailer serving communities throughout Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming.

We got our name in a fight. In 1936, a 20-year-old named Farris Lind opened a service station in Twin Falls and started selling gasoline for less than the major oil companies thought he should. They didn’t take it well. When one of them told a newspaper that Farris Lind was a real stinker, he took it as a compliment, put the word on his stations, and drew a skunk wearing red boxing gloves.

So the gloves came first, and they were never a joke. Fearless Farris put them on because he spent his career punching above his weight on behalf of the customer, and because a small Idaho company that refuses to be pushed around has to be willing to fight for what it believes in.

Ninety years later, we still fight for our employees and our guests. That spirit continues to shape how we work, how we serve our communities, and what we look for in the people who join our team.

Our purpose is simple:

To make our world a better place by being a bright spot in the lives we touch, one employee, one guest, and one community at a time.

We believe our success starts with our people. That means developing others, building trust, welcoming new ideas, recognizing contributions, holding ourselves accountable, and having the courage to do what’s right.

We still know how to have fun — our mascot is a skunk, after all. But take a close look at Pete: he’s got his gloves on.
