PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

At Travel + Leisure Co., our vision is to put the world on vacation. As Activities Manager, you are responsible for the overall operation of resort activities, recreation, wellness and Kids Club services. This includes delivering exceptional service to owners and guests, providing accurate local information, promoting resort experiences and overseeing tour desk services.

Under the direction of the Director of Food & Beverage, the primary purpose of this role is to develop and manage a comprehensive program of recreational, cultural, sports, fitness and family activities. The role also supports employee wellness initiatives and supervises the safe, engaging delivery of resort activities and Kids Club programs.

The Activities Manager will identify appropriate revenue opportunities through fitness sessions, activities, events, tours and guest experiences while maintaining strong participation, value and guest satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include but not limited to:)

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the resort's Activities, Recreation, Wellness and Kids Club programs.
  • Develop and deliver a diverse calendar of activities and experiences for adults, families, youth and children.
  • Create innovative and engaging programs that respectfully showcase Fijian culture, local experiences and current resort and leisure trends.
  • Develop activities and experiences that enhance guest satisfaction and encourage participation.
  • Identify and implement new revenue-generating activities, events and experiences.
  • Achieve departmental revenue targets and manage operating costs within the approved budget.
  • Monitor departmental revenue, costs, forecasts, participation and performance against agreed budgets and targets.
  • Develop activity programs based on resort occupancy, guest demographics, seasonality and special events.
  • Recruit, roster, lead, coach, train and develop the Activities team, monitor performance and maintain consistently high service standards.
  • Ensure all activities are supported by appropriate risk assessments and are delivered safely in accordance with resort policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with guests, resort owners, tour and activity providers, contractors, local suppliers and community partners.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Security, Housekeeping, Human Resources and other departments to maximize the overall guest experience.
  • Coordinate with Sales & Marketing to promote resort activities through approved digital, social media and internal communication channels.
  • Monitor guest feedback and participation trends and continuously improve the activities offering.
  • Support resort events, special functions and corporate initiatives.
  • Ensure all activity areas, equipment and facilities are inspected, safely stored, maintained and documented to the required standards.
  • Promote and demonstrate the resort's service culture and ensure every guest interaction reflects the brand's hospitality standards.
  • Manage Kids Club operations in accordance with child safeguarding requirements, supervision ratios, attendance controls, authorized collection procedures and incident-reporting protocols.
  • Establish and communicate emergency response procedures for water-based, fitness, sporting, cultural and children's activities, and conduct regular team drills where required.
  • Verify that external activity and tour providers hold the required contracts, licenses, insurance, risk documentation and resort approvals before services are offered to guests.
  • Maintain accurate participation, waiver, incident, equipment, inventory and financial records, and provide regular performance reports to resort leadership.
  • Support employee wellness activities and wider resort engagement initiatives as directed.

KEY POSITION CRITERIA:

  • Diploma or certificate in Tourism, Hospitality, Recreation Management or a related discipline recognized in Fiji.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing guest activities, recreation, wellness, Kids Club or leisure programs within a resort environment.
  • Strong commercial understanding with demonstrated experience in revenue generation, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and risk management relating to guest activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with local tour operators, activity providers, community groups and tourism stakeholders in Fiji.
  • Knowledge of Fiji's tourism industry, local culture and destination experiences will be highly regarded.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities, events and priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and evenings, based on resort operational requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of child safeguarding, activity risk management, incident reporting and emergency response procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant resort systems, with the ability to prepare rosters, budgets, forecasts and performance reports.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
