Advanced Medical Support Assistant- Call Center

The Advanced MSA serves as a member of the Durham VA Health Care System, operating in a Direct Care area at duty stations throughout the Health Care System. Durham VAHCS is a complexity 1A level health care system with a main medical center and multiple outpatient care clinics.The Advanced MSA, provides specialized and expert administrative patient support while working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model.

VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo The Advanced MSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedules for one or more outpatient clinics. The incumbent must assist with clinic access contingency plans by adjusting appointment times, location, or dates as well as shift patients to other healthcare providers as conflict with staffing and/or coverage occurs. The Advanced MSA may be required to serve on more than one PACT or in more than one Specialty Clinic area, or rotate in any MSA area. Supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs identification of all patients through the use of two forms of identification, name and full Social Security Number. The patient may also present the Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) for identification.The incumbent must use each interaction with the patient to validate and update patient demographic information, either in person during check-in or over the phone, to decrease the incidence of returned mail due to incorrect addresses and inability to contact patient by phone due to incorrect number. The Advanced MSA fully participates in the daily teamlet huddles and/or weekly team meetings where patient care planning and management occur. Scheduling activities must comply with established national, VISN, and local guidance, particularly VHA Directive 1230 (Outpatient Scheduling Management), and VHA Directive 1232 (Consult Management), and must stay current with any updates or changes to VHA scheduling policies and procures. Work Schedule: Call Center is 24/7 including weekends and holidays; Rotating Shifts (8am-4:30pm, 4pm - Midnight, Midnight- 8am) Telework: Ad-hoc Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
