Advanced Welder

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Must be able to perform all functions of the basic welder classification.
  • Must be able to work from verbal instructions, prints, or work orders.
  • Required to setup equipment, prepare surfaces to be welded and weld parts.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as grinders, portable spot welder, hammers, screw drivers, vise clamps, fixtures and jigs, etc.
  • Must be able to read and layout parts to complex prints and plan details of working procedure.
  • Must be able to perform complex welds, such as but not limited to welds for cavity welds and non-pressure boilers.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Must have prompt and regular attendance.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Keep work area clean, neat and orderly.
  • Maintain inventory of parts used in area.
  • Must report all accidents/injuries to department supervisor immediately.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies and procedures
  • Train basic welders.

WORKING CONDITION: General plant environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and layout part to prints.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to weld complex welds
  • Must have TIG experience and pass internal welding test
  • Must complete the Career Readiness Certification

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
