A 18-month contract role in Toronto where you’ll craft and execute communications plans, write content, and coordinate stakeholder events for a government-backed infrastructure investment bank.

Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.

The Advisor, Communications (18-month contract), will be responsible for assisting with implementing the communications action plan. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager, Communications and will support the Communications and Public Affairs team initiatives with a focus on stakeholder events, project milestone communications and content development.

Strong oral and written communications skills in English is mandatory and French desirable.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the annual communications action plan
  • Apply strong writing skills to develop communications products including event briefs, leadership briefing materials, key messages, speaking notes, social media content and stakeholder communications
  • Partner with internal teams and leadership to curate stakeholder events which connect, inform and engage audiences
  • Support the planning and execution of stakeholder events, including event logistics, materials development and post-event follow-up
  • Collaborate with internal teams and project partners to track project milestones, coordinate communications deliverables, and support the development of content for project announcements, the website and social media channels.
  • Support the maintenance of internal databases, distribution lists or other methods of engagement with stakeholders and partners
  • Support the Director, Communications, Senior Manager, Communications on public investment announcements and other duties as assigned, when required
  • Collaborate with Communications team members to ensure integrated and seamless communications tactics are delivered across the web site and social media platforms to ensure consistency of messaging
  • Coordinate with a variety of stakeholders from across Canada and the infrastructure sector to develop events which support CIB’s market outreach and pipeline development
  • Contribute to a team dynamic and engaging work environment

The ideal profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in communications, public relations or related field is required
  • A proven team player with up to five years communications experience
  • Passionate about the infrastructure market and how it contributes to Canada’s prosperity
  • Experience in event coordination, from inception to delivery
  • Time management skills with an ability to proactively plan, prioritize and meet urgent and competing deadlines for multiple projects
  • Ability to work confidently with senior corporate executives
  • A track record in developing and implementing successful communications plans
  • MS Office skills, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects
  • Strong writer, strategic thinker to tackle challenges and identify solutions
