AFC Hardware Integration Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for an AFC Hardware Integration Engineer to support the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of AFC software and equipment, including Automatic Gates (AG), Ticket Vending Machines (TVM), Passenger Service Machines (PSM), and other related station equipment.
The engineer will work closely with the Hardware, Software, Test, Project and Site teams, as well as vendors and subcontractors. The role requires good hands-on hardware knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot issues involving equipment installation, wiring, interfaces, peripherals and software/hardware integration.
Responsibilities
- Support installation, integration and commissioning activities for AFC equipment including AG, TVM and PSM.
- Check equipment installation and ensure hardware, cabling, wiring and connections are installed according to the approved design and drawings.
- Identify installation issues or incorrect work carried out by subcontractors and coordinate the required rectification.
- Perform hardware checks and troubleshooting before equipment is handed over for formal testing.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues involving hardware and software integration.
- Support troubleshooting of communication and interface issues between AFC equipment and external systems.
- Review wiring diagrams, interface drawings, equipment layouts, technical specifications and installation documents.
- Help determine whether reported issues are related to hardware, software, network, configuration, firmware or installation.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to investigate and rectify equipment issues found during installation and testing.
- Support FAT, SIT, SAT, Type Testing and other site testing or commissioning activities when required.
- Provide technical findings and support root cause investigation for hardware and integration issues.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Computer, Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in hardware installation, integration, testing, troubleshooting or commissioning.
- Able to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and interface drawings.
- Good understanding of hardware interfaces, sensors, controllers, I/O signals and peripheral devices.
- Basic knowledge of network and communication interfaces such as Ethernet/TCP-IP and serial communication would be useful.
- Able to perform hands-on troubleshooting and identify the possible source of equipment issues.
- Comfortable working onsite and coordinating with developers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Able to work independently during site installation, integration and testing activities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in railway, metro or AFC systems would be an advantage, particularly with:
- Automatic Gates / Fare Gates
- Ticket Vending Machines
- Passenger Service Machines
- SCADA or station system interfaces
- Hardware components, wiring, interfaces, signals, installation, and how the software interacts with the equipment.
- Equipment installation and commissioning
- Site Acceptance Testing
