Summary
Mentor and lead after-school youth programs for ages 6–18, planning activities in arts, education, leadership, health, and recreation while ensuring safety and inclusion.
A Youth Development Professional (YDP) focuses on delivering activities and mentorship to youth ages 6-18 that support their developmental growth toward a great future. YDPs plan and deliver programming to their age-based groups focusing on the Arts, Education, Character & Leadership, Health & Wellness, and Sports & Recreation. YDPs steward a climate that is inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive.
The YDP will be expected to work additional hours during spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas Break & Summer.
Youth Supervision & Safety

Always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of youth.

Create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment.

Maintain appropriate staff-to-youth ratios and accountability.
-
Respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or safety concerns.

Follow all Boys & Girls Clubs policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Program Delivery

Lead engaging activities that support youth development.

Encourage participation and make activities fun, engaging, and age appropriate.
Relationship Building

Serve as a positive role model and mentor.

Build strong relationships with youth, families, coworkers, volunteers, schools, and community partners.

Encourage positive behavior through guidance, encouragement, and conflict resolution.
Classroom & Program Management

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.

Monitor attendance and ensure youth are properly supervised.

Care for program supplies and equipment.

Report facility maintenance or safety concerns.
Teamwork & Professionalism

Attend required meetings and professional development trainings.

Assist with special events, school break programs, summer programming, and field trips as needed.

Assist with transportation of youth when required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
