Ready to work across everything from startup MVPs to critical enterprise systems? Smith Brothers Media is looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our Melbourne team and deliver innovative, reliable solutions for a diverse range of clients.
About the RoleAs a Full Stack Developer at SBM, you’ll work across a varied portfolio of digital projects using modern technologies such as React, Flutter and Ruby on Rails.
You’ll collaborate closely with our Technology, Design, Strategy and Campaign Management teams to translate client requirements into effective technical solutions. You’ll contribute throughout the development lifecycle - from technical planning and development through to testing, deployment and ongoing improvement - while taking ownership of your work and communicating clearly with clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Skills and Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with:
- 2+ years of professional development experience, including strong experience with React or Flutter
- Strong knowledge of React and related technologies, including state management, component lifecycles and performance optimisation
- Experience using Git-based workflows, including pull requests, code reviews and version control best practices
- The ability to understand client requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications
- Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage priorities, communicate progress and meet project deadlines
- Experience collaborating with designers, developers and other stakeholders to deliver projects effectively
- Familiarity with project management and time-tracking tools such as ClickUp and Harvest
Bonus points if you have experience with:
- Flutter development
- Ruby on Rails
- CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or DigitalOcean
- Database architecture, data modelling or data strategy
- AI tools, frameworks and APIs
- Digital infrastructure, application security and performance optimisation
- Working in an agency or across multiple client projects simultaneously
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is preferred but not essential
As a Full Stack Developer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Developing, testing and maintaining web and mobile applications using modern technologies
- Contributing to technical planning, solution design and project scoping
- Translating client and stakeholder requirements into practical technical solutions
- Collaborating with designers, developers and internal teams to deliver seamless digital experiences
- Reviewing code and contributing to consistent development standards and practices
- Managing your assigned tasks, priorities and time through ClickUp, Harvest and other project tools
- Identifying and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting the security, reliability and performance of the applications and infrastructure you work with
- Communicating project progress, risks and technical considerations clearly to internal teams and clients
- Contributing to continuous improvement across our development processes and technology stack
