AI & Analytics Engineer - Business Automation

Summary

Build and deploy AI agents and automation workflows using LLM APIs and integration platforms to streamline business processes across procurement, sales, finance, and operations.

Job description:

OUR COMPANY

Our head office and warehouse locations are in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We design, manufacture, and distribute innovative aluminum trim systems for lap siding, panel systems, and aluminum composite materials (ACM) across Canada and the United States.

Our products represent cutting-edge technology, supported by numerous patents in place and pending. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced AI & Analytics Engineer - Business Automation to join our technical and sales support team.

What you'll do

  • Own the company's reporting data layer: consolidate fragmented sources of truth and build the pipelines that feed a governed, centralized reporting foundation both people and AI agents can trust
  • Map business processes across procurement, sales, finance, and operations, and identify where AI agents and automation deliver measurable efficiency gains
  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents and workflows using LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI), MCP connectors, and integration platforms
  • Build and maintain API integrations between our core business systems
  • Work directly with department leads as an internal consultant: gather requirements, prototype quickly, train users, and iterate
  • Establish and follow governance standards — access scoping, data handling, documentation — so every automation you build is auditable and maintainable by someone other than you
  • Measure and report the impact of what you ship: hours saved, errors reduced, cycle times cut

What we’re looking for

  • 3–6 years in software integration, business systems, automation engineering, or a technical business analyst role
  • Hands‑on experience building with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or workflow automation tools — you have shipped working automations, not just proofs of concept
  • Comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and scripting (Python or JavaScript)
  • Solid SQL and data‑modeling fundamentals; you've built reporting pipelines or fed a BI tool (Power BI or similar) from messy operational data
  • Strong process‑mapping and requirements‑gathering skills; you can sit with a purchasing manager, understand their workflow, and translate it into a build
  • Clear writer and documenter — your work must outlive you
  • ERP experience and familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) are pluses

Your first 90 days

Days 1–30: a structured diagnostic of our systems, processes, and reporting landscape, delivered as a prioritized automation roadmap scored by effort and impact. Days 31–90: ship your first build — a reliable reporting data pipeline from our core systems — while leadership reviews and approves the roadmap you'll execute next. Assessment and delivery happen together; we don't do strategy‑only quarters.

What this role is not

This is not a research or data‑science position, and it is not a pure strategy role. You will write and ship real integrations. If you want to present roadmaps without building, this isn’t the fit.

Why this role

You'll have direct executive sponsorship, a defined strategy to execute against, and the autonomy to shape how a whole company adopts AI — with the visibility that comes from reporting to the top.

Location: Calgary, AB (on‑site/hybrid)
