AI Automation Team Lead (Remote, Contract)
Summary
Leads a small team to identify inefficiencies and implement AI-powered automations across departments using Python, SQL, and no-code tools.

We are building a small, high-impact team of problem-solvers, builders, and operators within SoftDev who will help us transform and evolve in the AI era.
This is not a traditional role with narrowly defined responsibilities. You will join a cross-functional transformation squad focused on identifying inefficiencies, challenging legacy workflows, and implementing AI-powered solutions that create measurable business impact.
Some team members may come from technical backgrounds; others from operations, product, analytics, or project management.
What matters the most:
- Ability to solve real problems in a variety of different departments across the organization
- Being agile, forward-thinking, and adaptable
- Not being tied to legacy systems and processes
- Proposing creative solutions and being willing to ask: “Why do we still do it this way?” and then building something better
We expect you to be:
- Self-directed, self-sufficient, and comfortable with ambiguity
- A strong problem-solver with analytical thinking and data fluency
- Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams
- Experienced with AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Gemini, n8n, etc.), automations, agents, or workflows
- Capable of evaluating business value, calculating ROI, and prioritizing incoming automation requests
- Able to design and build integrations that connect new AI tooling with core database systems (e.g., mainDB / legacy stacks)
- Strong in stakeholder management and delegating/coordinating tasks for a small team (3–4 members)
Technical & Core Requirements:
- Practical experience writing Python scripts for automation and data manipulation
- Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases
- Experience with data flow design and process redesign
- Hands-on experience with no-code/low-code platforms (e.g., n8n, Zapier) alongside custom code solutions
Bonus Points:
- Experience with vibe-coding practices or rapid prototyping tools
- Experience leading change initiatives or managing technical team members
- Experience migrating legacy automated processes to modern, code-based or AI-assisted infrastructure
- Business Analysis or Data Analytics background
