AI Business Analyst

AI Business Enablement Specialist | Federal Government | Canberra | 12-Month Contract + Extension

A Federal Government agency in Canberra is looking for an AI Business Enablement Specialist to join their team on an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension. This is a genuinely interesting role sitting at the intersection of business analysis and AI delivery — you'll be hands-on, shaping how the organisation adopts and governs AI, while demonstrating what's actually possible through rapid prototyping and real-world use cases.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading prototyping sessions using Microsoft Copilot, PowerPlatform and Azure Foundry to show the business what AI can do in practice

  • Eliciting, documenting and decomposing business and AI requirements into epics, features and testable user stories with solid acceptance criteria

  • Mapping processes and decision points to determine where AI adds value versus rules-based approaches, and defining appropriate human oversight controls

  • Co-designing evaluation frameworks including testing, drift monitoring and fairness assessments

  • Leading workshops, discovery sessions and backlog refinement across multi-disciplinary agile teams

  • Ensuring AI features are ethical, transparent and compliant with the CER AI Governance Framework, Internal AI Policy and Data Policy

  • Supporting change management, communications and training for AI-enabled tools and processes

What need:

  • 3+ years as a BA or Systems Analyst working in agile/digital delivery environments

  • Proven hands-on experience with the Microsoft AI stack — Copilot, PowerPlatform, Azure, NLP/LLMs or intelligent automation

  • Ability to write testable user stories and acceptance criteria for AI features, including evaluation metrics and guardrails

  • Working knowledge of responsible AI principles — privacy-by-design, explainability, human oversight and bias mitigation

  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders equally well

  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps and Miro (or equivalent)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication — you can influence with evidence, not just slides

  • Baseline security clearance or above will be an advantage
