Position Summary:
AI & Computer Vision Engineer is responsible for the development, integration, and optimization of real-time video streaming and perception capabilities for advanced RCWS platforms. This role requires strong software engineering skills with a focus on C++ and Python, hands-on experience with NVIDIA edge hardware (Jetson), and the ability to build robust video pipelines using GStreamer and DeepStream. The engineer will bridge the gap between AI algorithm development and hardware integration, directly improving our Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), object detection, and tracking products in real-world defense environments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement low-latency video streaming and processing pipelines for NVIDIA Jetson edge platforms using GStreamer, DeepStream, and CUDA.
- Develop, train, and deploy AI models for object detection, classification, and Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) in real-time operational systems.
- Optimize AI solutions and video analytics for edge devices using TensorRT and NVIDIA VPI to maximize frame rates and reliability.
- Integrate computer vision and tracking algorithms (e.g., DeepSORT, Kalman Filters, Siamese trackers) into multidisciplinary RCWS systems.
- Manage and curate targeted computer vision datasets for training, validation, and benchmarking to drive continuous capability improvement.
- Work closely with software engineers, system engineers, and product teams to integrate AI and video capabilities seamlessly into the broader system architecture.
- Investigate new computer vision technologies, MLOps tools, and edge computing architectures to evaluate their applicability to next-generation products. Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Education/Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience developing software for production environments, with strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Proven experience optimizing and deploying AI models on NVIDIA Jetson platforms (Nano, Xavier, Orin) using TensorRT and CUDA.
- Hands-on experience building complex video pipelines using GStreamer and DeepStream is highly preferred.
- Strong background in object detection, Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), and tracking algorithms (YOLOv8/v10, DeepSORT, etc.).
- Familiarity with modern AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV) and experience handling large-scale image/video datasets.
- Experience with video analytics, surveillance, drone, or defense-related applications is a significant advantage.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to define and resolve problems by collecting and analyzing data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and executing solutions
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
