AI Core Product Manager

Discussion

Summary

Senior IC product manager at Apartment List (a rental marketplace) in Tel Aviv, owning a portfolio of conversational AI products end-to-end. The role turns a shared conversational AI engine into measurable renter, partner, and business outcomes through hands-on work on quality metrics, feedback loops, and roadmap execution.

At Apartment List, we're on a mission to help every renter find a home they love at the value they deserve. As a two-sided marketplace, we serve both renters and property partners (apartment managers and marketers). Finding a home is one of the most important — and stressful — decisions people make. Getting it right matters. Our platform pairs ready-to-move renters with properties that truly fit their lifestyle, backed by smart technology and a pay-for-performance business model that aligns us with renter and partner success.

We've already helped more than one million families find a place they love, but we're just getting started.

The Opportunity

Apartment List continues to invest in conversational AI as a core capability — spanning multiple products, driving millions of renter conversations — with new use cases opening regularly. Today, these mature and new products are built off of the same core engine supporting multiple products.

We need a product manager who can turn our shared conversational AI capabilities into measurable renter, partner, and business outcomes across a growing portfolio of AI products. You’ll own specific AI products end-to-end while also helping evolve the shared AI Core those products depend on.
This is a senior individual contributor role, with less focus on high-level strategy. You’ll be expected to develop deep product expertise, stay close to the details (hands on) of how our AI experiences behave in production, and personally drive work from ambiguous problems through requirements, execution, launch, and iteration.
This role sits at the intersection of Product, Data Science, Engineering, Operations, and our property partners. You’ll identify opportunities from product performance and partner feedback, translate them into a prioritized roadmap, launch new AI experiences, and continuously improve both their business impact and conversational quality.
Success means our AI products drive stronger outcomes, partner and renter feedback consistently turns into product improvements, and each new use case becomes easier and faster to launch because the underlying capabilities improve with it.

Here's what you'll do as part of the team

Own AI Products
  • Own a portfolio of specific conversational AI products/use cases end-to-end, including roadmap, prioritization, requirements, launch, performance and iteration.
  • Define success metrics across renter value, partner value and business outcomes — not only conversational quality.
  • Monitor product performance post-launch, identify opportunities and regressions, and drive the roadmap necessary to improve outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership on where shared AI capabilities can unlock new products or business opportunities.
  • Take new AI use cases from opportunity identification through validation, build, launch and scale.

Conversational Quality, Everywhere
  • Maximize conversation impact - due to the large scale of AI conversations, each improvement can compound into meaningful business impact - your role is to own these improvements
  • Own hallucination rates, renter survey scores, and conversational quality metrics as an ongoing program with a shared bar across every AI surface
  • Treat the conversation engine as a technology moat that needs active, dedicated tending — not ad hoc attention

Deep Product Ownership & Hands-on Execution
  • Become the product expert for the AI products and capabilities you own — understanding user journeys, partner workflows, conversation behavior, data, edge cases, and technical constraints in depth.
  • Stay close to the work: review conversations, investigate product behavior, dig into metrics and feedback, write requirements, make day-to-day product decisions, and participate closely in QA and launches.
  • Translate ambiguous problems into clear product direction and executable work for Engineering and Data Science.
  • Drive initiatives through the full lifecycle — not just roadmap and prioritization, but the detailed follow-through required to get high-quality products into production.
  • Proactively identify gaps, unblock decisions, and keep work moving without relying on Engineering or DS to fill product-management gaps.

Partner & Operational Feedback → Product Roadmap
  • Own the process for turning partner, Operations, renter and internal feedback into actionable product opportunities.
  • Distinguish individual requests from systemic opportunities; synthesize patterns and determine what should enter the roadmap.
  • Translate validated feedback into requirements, Jira tickets/PRDs, prioritization decisions and clear recommendations for Engineering and Data Science.
  • Close the loop with stakeholders on what we are solving, what we are not solving, and why.

The Feedback & Evaluation Loop
  • Own tagger feedback, language tests, data labeling, and insights — work that today lives with Data Science by default, with no dedicated PM ownership
  • Incorporate partner and internal stakeholder feedback; run A/B and Data Science experiments to validate improvements

Engine Refinement & Capability Expansion
  • Turn cross-product learnings into engine improvements that every surface inherits, instead of re-solving the same problem product by product
  • Work across Conversation Engine, Data Science, and Engineering — closing the seam where quality gaps show up today

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be successful

Must-haves
  • 5+ years of product management, technical program management, or engineering background with strong execution experience, ideally with AI/ML or conversational products
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills in English
  • Highly analytical and methodical, with strong attention to detail and a bias toward action
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous, unscoped work and turning it into a shipped, QA'd product with limited oversight
  • Based in Israel, with willingness to work a shifted schedule (late evenings Monday–Thursday) to overlap with the US-based team

Nice-to-haves
  • Direct experience with GenAI or LLM-based products, and genuine enthusiasm for where the space is headed
  • Willingness to attend conferences and client calls
  • Experience taking a product from 0→1, not just refining an existing one

And here's what's in it for you

  • Working and leading cutting edge GenAI based products
  • Bring impact or mature (millions of users daily) and net new products
  • A capacity-multiplier role with visible, org-wide impact across every AI surface at Apartment List
  • Close partnership with Data Science and Engineering leadership on one of the company's most strategically important technology investments
  • A hybrid work environment with career development at the core of how we work
