AI-Driven DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer Specialist (On-site)

Job Summary

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to assist onsite in Pasay City, Metro Manila for the migration and modernization of KOLLAB's client configuration management environment.

This is a short-term consulting/contract role with a clear project scope focused on migrating our existing Puppet and Foreman-based setup to a newer-generation configuration management approach. The assignment emphasizes updating, converting, and improving existing automation code while minimizing operational risk.

Responsibilities

• Support the migration of Puppet and Foreman, modernize configuration management practices, and successfully convert roughly 80 legacy scripts to the newest Puppet generation while minimizing operational risk.
• Modernize and migrate existing Puppet and Foreman infrastructure.
• Refactor and upgrade 80 legacy scripts/manifests to the latest Puppet generation.
• Optimize automation using Bash, Groovy, and APIs.
• Analyze the current Puppet and Foreman configurations, understand existing design patterns and dependencies, and help move these toward modern best practices.

The work will include:

• Rewriting manifests.
• Restructuring modules.
• Improving parameterization.
• Removing deprecated constructs.
• Verifying that converted scripts behave correctly in the target environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Puppet DSL and Foreman.
• Several years of hands-on Linux experience.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results within a 6-month timeframe (with option for extension).
• Strong scripting and automation skills are essential for this role.
• The ideal candidate has solid experience with Puppet DSL, shell/bash scripting, and Groovy (or similar automation-oriented languages), and is comfortable refactoring and modernizing legacy code.
• Comfortable refactoring and modernizing legacy code.
• Experience working with configuration management systems is required, whether Puppet, Foreman, OR comparable tools (Chef, Ansible, Salt).
• Familiarity with Foreman and Puppet specifically is highly desirable, as the consultant will need to navigate existing Foreman-managed environments and Puppet-controlled infrastructure.
• Experience working with APIs as a Developer or Advanced User is an advantage, as parts of the migration may involve API integration, automation, or validation workflows.
• Interest or experience in AI-assisted development, including GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools, to support code analysis, conversion, and refactoring while maintaining quality and consistency.
