AI Engagement Manager
About Pareto
Humanity is in a virtuous cycle: human insight improves AI, and better AI expands what people can do. Sustaining it depends on the one input that can't be automated: expert human judgment.
At Pareto, we build the platform that turns that judgment into the data, evals, and RL environments frontier models learn from. We work with leading frontier labs like Anthropic and GDM, and we give skilled people everywhere a way to shape the future of AI and share in what it creates.
This RL environment and human-data infrastructure is already in production. Our job now is to scale it.
The Role
AI Engagement Managers own the relationships with Pareto's most important accounts. The clients are AI labs and model builders using Pareto's data pipelines to train next-generation models. You work directly with researchers, TPMs, and PMs at organizations like Anthropic and GDM, understand what they're building, and make sure Pareto is the execution partner they call first.
This is account management with real technical depth. You own renewal, expansion, and account health. You catch problems before they surface and spot growth before the client thinks to ask. That's the job.
What You'll Own
Own a portfolio of flagship AI lab and model-builder accounts as the primary point of contact
Build relationships across researchers, PMs, TPMs, vendor ops, and procurement at each account. Multi-threaded, not single-contact.
Partner with Product, Delivery, and Engineering to design solutions covering data labeling, evals, RLHF, and red-teaming workflows
Drive renewal and expansion. Own timing, stakeholder alignment, and commercial outcomes.
Keep living account plans that surface risks, track active use cases, and flag growth paths before they go cold
Work with Sales on handoffs and with Delivery to show up as one team to clients
Bring structured customer insights into roadmap planning with Product and R&D
What We're Looking For
2+ years in customer-facing roles with technical buyers: Engagement Management, Strategic Accounts, Customer Success, or product-adjacent ML/data roles
Experience managing complex multi-stakeholder accounts, preferably at AI labs, model builders, or R&D-driven organizations
Working knowledge of ML and data workflows: data labeling, evals, RLHF, red-teaming, or adjacent areas
Demonstrated ability to lead solution design and scoping alongside Delivery and Operations
Experience owning or co-owning renewals, expansions, and commercial outcomes
Strong written and verbal communication across researchers, PMs, executives, and procurement
You Probably Aren't the Fit If
STEM background or strong technical fluency in CS, Engineering, Stats, ML, or Economics
Experience at an AI data provider, ML infrastructure platform, or developer tools company
Existing relationships within the AI/ML ecosystem
Experience working inside R&D-driven organizations where priorities shift with the research
You Probably Aren't the Right Fit If
You're most comfortable when client needs are stable and well-documented. Accounts here move fast, and requirements shift with the research.
You prefer a narrow, well-defined function. This role covers relationship management, solution design, and commercial ownership at the same time.
You want to manage from a distance. AI EMs are high-contact with clients and internal teams. That's how it works.
Compensation
Base salary $150K–$180K, plus equity. Final offer depends on experience and level, and we share level-specific ranges early in the process.
Why Pareto
Your accounts are building some of the most consequential AI systems being built right now. You'd know what Anthropic and GDM are trying to solve before it's public, and what you do keeps the data pipeline running that makes it possible. Equity is part of the package.
