Summary

Develop and deploy a next-generation AI application for an interdisciplinary legal research project using Vercel AI SDK, Azure OpenAI, PostgreSQL, and Prisma, while maintaining existing Python/Flask web apps.

AI Engineer (at the rank of Research Assistant II) in the School of Computing and Data Science (ref.:537095) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or a related field, along with:

  • Proven experience as a full-stack Web Developer.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python (Flask).
  • Hands-on experience with Vercel AI SDK, Model Context Protocol, and agent tool calls.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and Prisma ORM.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud Services and Azure OpenAI API.
  • Knowledge of web servers and deployment (Apache, Gunicorn).

The appointee will join an interdisciplinary team from the Faculty of Law and the School of Computing and Data Science on a project integrating legal research, teaching and learning, community engagement, and AI development.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and deploy a next-generation AI application utilizing Vercel AI SDK, MCP, and agent tool calling.
  • Model, query, and manage databases using Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL.
  • Integrate and deploy cloud AI solutions via Azure Cloud Services (including Azure OpenAI API).
  • Maintain and support existing web applications (Python/Flask).
