About the role
Pepper Labs is seeking an AI Engineer (AWS SAA Certified) to join our innovative team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in developing, deploying, and optimising artificial intelligence solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. As an AI Engineer, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge machine learning research and production-ready systems, leveraging your AWS expertise to architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI applications. Your contribution will be fundamental to delivering intelligent solutions that drive business value and competitive advantage for our clients and organisation.
Key responsibilities
Design and develop AI and machine learning models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other industry-standard frameworks
Deploy machine learning models to AWS services including SageMaker, Lambda, and EC2, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
Architect AWS cloud solutions for AI workloads, leveraging services such as AWS SageMaker, AWS Rekognition, AWS Textract, and AWS Forecast
Develop data pipelines and ETL processes to prepare and process large datasets for model training and inference
Optimise AI models for cost-efficiency and performance on AWS infrastructure, implementing best practices for security and compliance
Conduct model experimentation and evaluation, tracking metrics and results to inform continuous improvement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Document code, architecture decisions, and deployment procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability
Monitor and troubleshoot deployed AI systems, implementing improvements based on performance metrics and user feedback
Stay current with emerging AI/ML technologies and AWS service updates, incorporating relevant innovations into our solutions
What we're looking for
AWS Solutions Architect Associate (SAA) certification or equivalent AWS certification demonstrating cloud architecture knowledge
Strong programming skills in Python with experience in software development best practices and design patterns
Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying machine learning models in production environments
Proficiency with AWS services, particularly SageMaker, Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS, and other relevant AI/ML services
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar tools
Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Preferred: Experience with deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, or reinforcement learning
Preferred: Previous experience in deploying AI models to production environments and managing ML lifecycle
Preferred: Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools for model monitoring and management
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
