Based in CAPE TOWN, this AI ENGINEER role offers a salary of R1.5m - R1.6m.

THE ROLE:

You will Design and build AI/ML products that drive real business outcomes, from ideation to production.
Work closely with business teams to uncover high-value use cases.
Run discovery sessions to understand problems deeply, then craft the right data science solution.
Engineer, deploy, and maintain AI/ML systems in production - owning the full lifecycle.
Build and maintain observability tooling to monitor model performance, data quality, and system health.
Mentor junior engineers in the team.
Convert model results into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
Scale successful solutions across business functions and regions globally.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong understanding of machine learning (ML) - you know your algorithms and when (and when not) to use them.
- Solid software engineering skills are essential - you can write clean, production-ready code.
- Track record of building, deploying and operating ML systems at scale.
- Experience with observability - monitoring, alerting, and keeping models healthy in production.
- Ability to turn complex AI/ML concepts into clear business language.
- Sharp problem-solving instincts.
- Experience mentoring, supporting and growing junior engineers.
