AI Engineer
Summary
Clera is seeking an AI Engineer to build scalable backend systems and optimize LLM-powered AI agent workflows for their productivity platform. This hands-on role requires extensive backend experience and a strong background in deploying AI solutions in production environments.
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role at an early-stage, Y Combinator–backed AI productivity startup. You'll tackle two core challenges: building backend systems that scale and optimising the LLM and AI agent flows that power the product. Your work will have a direct and visible impact on platform performance and the end-user experience.
What You'll Do
Own backend scalability — design and implement services and infrastructure built to handle growth.
Tune and iterate on LLM integrations and AI agent orchestration pipelines to improve reliability and efficiency in production.
Ship software continuously, maintaining a high ownership mindset in a fast-moving, small team.
What We're Looking For
5+ years of backend software engineering experience delivering scalable, production-grade systems.
Hands-on experience integrating LLMs and optimising AI agent workflows in live production environments.
A practical, portfolio-driven approach — demonstrable side projects and shipped software are valued over formal credentials alone.
Experience thriving at fast-growing startups; high agency and genuine startup motivation are essential.
Strong sense of ownership, intentional career choices, and a sustained curiosity for the craft.
Based in Stockholm or able to legally work and relocate there — visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $80,000–$120,000 USD annually, with flexibility for exceptionally senior candidates.
Equity offered; the salary/equity mix is negotiable.
Visa sponsorship: not available.
Location
On-site in Stockholm, Sweden.
