We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable backend systems, APIs, integrations, and AI‑powered workflows. This role requires strong ownership, hands‑on engineering expertise, and the ability to build production‑grade systems that support business‑critical operations. The ideal candidate combines deep backend engineering experience with practical knowledge of AI/LLM‑based applications, automation, payment systems, and third‑party integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development & Architecture
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data models using Python and Fast API.
- Build secure, reliable, and high‑performance systems that support core business operations.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and technology decisions.
- Review code and maintain high standards for software quality, maintainability, and performance.
AI & Automation
- Develop, deploy, and operate AI‑powered agents, workflows, and automation solutions.
- Build and enhance applications leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), tool/function calling, retrieval systems, and agent‑based architectures.
- Evaluate and implement emerging AI technologies to improve operational efficiency and product capabilities.
Payments & Integrations
- Design and maintain payment and billing functionality, including collection, disbursement, and transaction workflows.
- Develop and support integrations with third‑party platforms and APIs.
- Ensure reliability, security, and compliance across payment and financial operations.
Workflow Orchestration & Operations
- Build, manage, and optimize background jobs, workflow automation, and asynchronous processing systems.
- Monitor production environments, troubleshoot issues, and provide ongoing operational support.
- Improve system observability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
End-to-End Feature Ownership
- Own features throughout their lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to define solutions for complex business problems.
- Drive continuous improvement through proactive problem‑solving and technical innovation.
Required Qualifications
- 3 - 4 Years experience building, deploying, and supporting production backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with relational databases.
- Hands‑on experience integrating third‑party APIs and external platforms.
- Practical experience building applications utilizing LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, or related AI technologies.
- Strong understanding of software testing, quality assurance, and engineering best practices.
- Demonstrated ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects from concept to production independently.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payment processing platforms and financial technology integrations.
- Experience building and scaling multi‑tenant SaaS applications.
- Experience deploying, monitoring, and operating AI‑powered solutions in production environments.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration and distributed system architectures.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and highly available cloud‑native services.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL for building scalable backend applications.
- Experienced in workflow orchestration and background job processing using Temporal.
- Skilled in integrating third‑party services, including Stripe, Plaid, Twilio, and other external APIs.
- Hands‑on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, agent frameworks, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and tool/function calling to build intelligent AI‑powered systems.
