AI Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to build and deploy AI solutions that address critical healthcare challenges. You will work with LLMs, NLP, Speech AI, and model fine-tuning to develop scalable systems that support maternal health, vaccination, and medical guidance across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI technologies
• Architect and implement end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, covering data preparation, model selection, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, deployment, and monitoring
• Architect and maintain scalable AI pipelines using cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) to ensure tools work reliably in low-bandwidth environments
• Work with Speech AI technologies, including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), voice processing, and real-time conversational AI pipelines
• Design, curate, preprocess, and validate high-quality datasets for model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation
• Establish and follow best practices for AI development, experimentation, testing, deployment, and responsible use of AI

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of experience in AI/Machine Learning engineering, preferably within health-tech or social impact sectors
• Expert-level Python proficiency (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
• Experience with Transformers, Hugging Face, and fine-tuning LLMs
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data engineering tools
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and deploying models to production (MLOps)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
