AI Engineer (AI/ML Platform & DevOps)

Location: ACT, QLD, VIC or SA (Hybrid)
Contract: 12 Months + Extension Options
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline Clearance

We are seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join a major Federal Government technology program focused on delivering secure, scalable AI and machine learning platforms. This role will play a key part in designing, implementing and supporting AI environments across on-premises, cloud and hybrid infrastructure.

About the Role
As an AI Engineer, you will help build and operate enterprise AI platforms, supporting the deployment of machine learning models, generative AI solutions and cloud-native technologies. You'll work closely with architecture, cyber security, data and engineering teams to develop secure, reusable and scalable solutions aligned with government standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain AI/ML platform solutions
• Build and support cloud-native and containerised environments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices
• Develop automation and deployment pipelines
• Support AI model deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management
• Integrate AI platforms with enterprise systems and APIs
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Collaborate with stakeholders across technical and business teams
• Contribute to architecture, governance and security best practices

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with experience across several of the following:

• AI/ML engineering and MLOps
• Kubernetes, OpenShift and OpenShift AI
• Python development and scripting
• Docker, Podman and container platforms
• CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps
• Terraform and/or Ansible
• Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Hugging Face, RAG, vector databases and AI agents
• Linux systems administration
• API integration and enterprise platforms
• GPU technologies, including NVIDIA
• Monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Security, DevSecOps and compliance in regulated environments

About You

You are a hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills and experience delivering AI solutions in complex enterprise environments. You thrive in collaborative teams, can communicate technical concepts effectively, and have a passion for emerging AI technologies.
