AI Engineer
Description
Are you passionate about renewable energy and eager to work at the forefront of the global energy transition? PEAK Wind is seeking an AI Engineer to help shape our AI roadmap and to build and orchestrate the agents our colleagues and clients will use every day. At PEAK Wind, AI is moving from prototypes into production, and renewable energy operations produce exactly the kind of complex, high-volume data where AI can deliver significant value.
Introducing the Data & Intelligence Team
You will become part of our Data & Intelligence (D&I) team, where we work within PEAK Wind’s asset management service offering and manage full value chain data management for our clients. We support renewable energy assets worldwide through data management, reporting solutions, analytics, and AI capabilities, helping deliver data-driven solutions that support our clients and renewable energy projects. Our team consists of highly motivated professionals who bring diverse backgrounds and a strong commitment to excellence. We support one another, share knowledge, and celebrate both individual and collective achievements.
You will report to the Head of Data & Intelligence and work day-to-day with our small team of engineers who have been building internal AI products at PEAK Wind for several years. You will work closely with colleagues across different areas, bringing your perspective to a collaborative and purposeful team environment.
How You Will Make an Impact
As an AI Engineer, you will take AI solutions from idea to production and keep them there. You will co-own our AI roadmap: helping decide which agents we build, in what order, and what “working” means for each of them. Then you will build them.
Our agent portfolio serves two audiences. Internally, our agents give colleagues across PEAK Wind a well-governed way to work with company knowledge, generate reports, and analyse wind farm performance. Other internal agents help our own engineers specify and build new features faster. Externally, we provide agent-driven capabilities in our client-facing products.
On smaller initiatives you may be the engineer primarily responsible for taking the solution from first conversation to deployment. On larger initiatives, you will work closely with Product Owners, data engineers, and domain experts in asset management. Either way, the distance from an idea to something running is deliberately short. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Co-develop and maintain the PEAK Wind AI roadmap with the AI team, turning business needs into scoped, sequenced deliverables
- Design, build, and deploy agentic systems for internal colleagues, from reporting and wind farm analysis to engineering-productivity agents
- Design, build, and deploy AI-driven features and agents in our client-facing products, working with SCADA, operations, and asset management data
- Orchestrate multi-agent workflows: tool use, memory, retrieval over company and client data, and integration with our platform through APIs
- Build the evaluation systems that tell us whether an agent works, before and after it reaches production
- Own the data and infrastructure work behind your own agents on the cloud.
- Implement responsible-AI practices for operational energy data: access control, data isolation between clients, logging, and guardrails
- Ship early and iterate put prototypes in users’ hands fast and feed what you learn back into the roadmap
- Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand what they need, and push back when AI is not the right tool
- Document what you build so others can maintain, extend, and trust it
What Will Make You Successful in This Role
At PEAK Wind, we know success comes in many forms. What matters most is your mindset, curiosity, and drive to make an impact. The following qualities and experiences will help you succeed in this role:
- A degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or similar, or an equivalent track record of shipping software
- Hands-on experience in software development, ML, data engineering, or AI Engineering, including AI applications you have helped take into production
- Strong Python and/or TypeScript, and hands-on experience with at least one agent framework
- Experience building or extending evals for LLM and agent behaviour, or an interest in developing deeper expertise in this area
- Experience building in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure; familiarity with PostgreSQL, APIs, and modern web stacks is an advantage
- You code with AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor as a matter of course
- Professional experience in the energy industry or another complex technical environment; renewable energy or SCADA experience is an advantage but not required
- Clear and effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written, with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
- A go-doer mentality: you would rather ship something real this week and improve it next week than perfect it in a document
- A structured approach to problem-solving and the ability to take initiative, including owning a product from idea to delivery
- The ability to stay calm and constructive in a high-paced environment
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in an international, cross-functional team
This role is designed for an engineer who has already gained some hands-on experience building AI solutions and is now looking to deepen that expertise in a highly practical, production-focused environment and enjoys building and learning.
