AI Equities Analyst

Summary

Analyze AI hardware and infrastructure trends to inform investment decisions, translating technical details into investment theses for a global equity portfolio.

About the Role

We are a lean, high-conviction investment firm focused on the global AI hardware and infrastructure ecosystem — investing across US technology leaders, Taiwanese foundries and packaging houses, Japanese semiconductor equipment suppliers, and South Korean memory manufacturers.

We're hiring an AI Equities Analyst to be our in-house technical expert — someone who can sit through an earnings call and immediately spot what matters, and who can translate a research paper or a fab capacity announcement into an investment thesis.

No prior finance or investment experience is required.

We'll teach you financial modeling, valuation, and how buy-side research actually works. What we cannot teach as quickly is genuine technical fluency — that's what you bring on day one.

Why This Role Is Different

Direct access, real ownership. You'll work side-by-side with the Portfolio Manager, not buried in a large research team. Your read on a technology shift can move the portfolio the same week.

A built-for-you path into buy-side investing. Most technical experts who want to move into investing take a pay cut, go back for an MBA, or spend years in a generalist analyst pool first. This role skips all three.

Small firm, real scope. You'll cover the full AI hardware value chain — from silicon to systems to model architecture — across four markets, not a narrow sub-sector.

Who We're Looking For

2–3 years of hands-on industry experience in at least one of:

• Silicon & Hardware Systems Engineering

• Data Center & Infrastructure Engineering

• AI Model Architecture & Algorithmic Research

• Technology Evaluation & Market Intelligence (e.g., technical product management, competitive intelligence, developer relations)

If you've spent your career close to the technology — writing the code, designing the silicon, running the infrastructure, or evaluating vendors — and you're curious what that expertise is worth on the buy-side, this role is written for you.

What You'll Do

Decode the technology. Be the team's go-to translator for hardware announcements, model architecture papers, product roadmaps, and trade press across the AI value chain.

Separate signal from hype. Assess shifts like advanced node transitions, packaging constraints, liquid vs. air cooling, custom ASICs vs. GPUs, Mixture-of-Experts, quantization, and inference optimization — and judge what's technically real and economically meaningful.

Track the ecosystem. Follow industry research, trade publications, AI lab and software updates, and earnings transcripts to map supply-demand trends, component lead times, and software lock-in dynamics.

Shape portfolio decisions. Partner directly with the Portfolio Manager to explain why a shift matters, which companies hold durable technical moats, and where bottlenecks will redirect industry revenue.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Materials Science, Data Science, or a related STEM field.

Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on work in semiconductors, hardware engineering, data center infrastructure, AI model development/research, or technical market research.

Curiosity & Communication: A genuine passion for AI hardware and software, and the ability to explain technical concepts in plain, intuitive language.

Nice to have: Ability to read technical materials or trade press in Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean — useful for tracking APAC supply chain news firsthand.

Compensation& Growth

Base salary from S$8,000/month — with flexibility for candidates who bring exceptional depth or a rare skill match —plus performance-linked annual bonus.

A funded, direct transition into buy-side equity research. No pay cut, no MBA required.

Flat structure. You'll work directly with the Portfolio Manager from day one, with your analysis feeding real investment decisions — not a research queue.

How to Apply

Submit your CV along with a one-page write-up on one technical trend in AI hardware, data center infrastructure, or AI model architecture from the past 12 months that you find genuinely interesting — and why. No cover letter or finance resume needed. Email to hr@luminousam.com.sg
