AI & Machine Learning Engineer II
Description
About the Role
We are looking for an IT Advanced Analytics Analyst II, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning engineering, to join our team. This is an intermediate-level position ideal for someone who already has hands-on experience building software and working with data, and is ready to take on more complex projects and responsibilities.
You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to build and deploy AI-driven solutions that directly impact how Schneider moves freight across North America. You will not just write code, you will help the business make better decisions through data and AI.
What You Will Do:
- Take machine learning and AI models from development into real production environments.
- Build and deploy AI solutions, such as LLM-powered applications and agents, that are robust, accurate, and reliable.
- Design and maintain the automated systems that keep data flowing reliably between platforms.
- Partner with both technical and non-technical teams to turn business questions into data and AI solutions.
- Produce analysis and reporting that gives business leaders the clarity they need to act.
- Raise the bar for the team by reviewing code and sharing knowledge with less experienced colleagues.
- Own your work: manage your own deadlines, priorities, and deliverables without constant supervision.
- Jump in when things break and figure out why.
- Keep up with what is happening in the AI, data, and engineering world and bring new ideas to the table.
What You Need to Bring - Must have:
- A completed degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering or similar.
- At least 2 years of real work experience in an AI, data, or software role.
- Strong hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning and AI-powered systems in a professional setting. You do not need to be a researcher, but you should be comfortable taking models from development into production.
- Strong command of Python for AI/ML development and software engineering.
- Experience building production software, such as APIs and services, and using Git to collaborate on code with a team.
- Comfort working with Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Solid ability to query and manage data using SQL.
- Experience building or maintaining automated data workflows, what the industry calls ETL or data pipelines.
- English proficiency required. You will work closely with teams in the United States, so fluency in English is essential for this role.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience with LLMs, RAG, or AI agent frameworks.
- Worked on any major cloud platform: Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Used containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with high-volume data streaming tools like Apache Kafka.
- A background working with Linux-based systems.
- Prior exposure to the transportation or logistics industry.
- Guided or mentored teammates with less experience.
