AI/ML Signal Processing Engineer

Join an innovative defence company developing advanced signal processing, AI and machine learning solutions for complex sensing and detection applications.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining digital signal processing, algorithms and machine learning. You’ll work with complex real-world data and develop intelligent algorithms that can detect, classify and interpret signals in challenging environments.

The role will be involved across the development lifecycle — from data preparation and algorithm development through to training, testing and deployment of AI/ML models.

Working closely with software and engineering teams, you’ll develop solutions that combine traditional signal processing techniques with modern machine learning approaches.

Key Skills:

Machine Learning / AI:

• PyTorch and/or TensorFlow experience (and related Python skills)
• Experience with data wrangling/hygiene in exotic domains (e.g. acoustic, environmental)
• Experience implementing and training bespoke AI/ML models
• Familiarity with recent literature/applications or supervised/self-supervised and RL techniques

Signal Processing / Algorithms:

• Signal processing knowledge (digital signals, audio processing, image processing)
• Sensor/hydrophone knowledge (sensitivity, directivity)

Software Engineering:

• C++ design and implementation skills
• Python design and implementation skills
• Windows or Linux experience (application programming/deployment)
• Visual Studio / VS Code experience (primary IDE)
• Git experience
