AI/ML Summer Intern (May-Aug '27)
Description
Skyworks Solutions is seeking an AI/ML Summer Intern to join our enterprise AI/ML engineering team. This is a hands-on, full-time engineering role in which you will help design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions that support engineering and business teams across the company. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will take ownership of small projects end to end — from data gathering and analysis through prototyping, implementation, and documentation — while building practical experience with modern AI/ML tooling in a production environment. The position is intended for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students looking to apply their coursework to real-world engineering problems.
Responsibilities
As an AI/ML Engineering Intern, you will support engineering efforts for AI and machine learning initiatives spanning multiple business units. You’ll lead small projects under the supervision of the enterprise AI/ML engineering team, collaborating with stakeholders from various departments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering and analyzing engineering and business data to identify opportunities for AI/ML solutions.
- Developing code for core usecase functionality with guidance and gradually work independently
- Designing and implementing new procedures and workflows for AI/ML projects.
- Identifying bottlenecks and working with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy solutions.
- Assisting with documentation, reporting, and other project deliverables.

Required Experience and Skills
- Current Junior/Senior undergraduate or Graduate studying Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- Must be able to temporarily relocate to work full-time hours from May/June to Aug/Sept 2027 (3 months) in Irvine, California
- Experience using programming languages (Python), and AI/ML frameworks like Pytorch and understanding of AI algorithms.
- Proficiency using VScode or other programming IDEs, ramp up learning curve on using code assists to complete tasks.
- Be able to quickly learn company-specific software (Agentic AI, LangChain, LangGraph, Genie, Databricks, PowerBI).
Desired Experience and Skills
- Programming in Python 2 + years, understanding of AI/ML algorithms
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, eager to tackle challenges and take ownership.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
- Strong time management, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Please note: If you have already graduated and are not currently enrolled in school, you are not eligible for this Intern position.
