About the Position
The AI Platform Engineer will be a member of the AI Platform Engineering team, reporting to the VP, Data Science & AI Engineering. The team builds and runs RenRe’s internal AI platform – the shared toolkit, services, and golden paths that let teams across the business develop and operate AI solutions safely. This year, we are focused on extending self-serve AI capabilities and hardening the platform that supports business solution teams across Claims, Operations, Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Investments and Corporate functions.
This hands-on AI Platform Engineer role is based in the Dublin office, with occasional travel to other RenRe offices as required.
Responsibilities will include:
Develop re-usable components and tools and make them accessible for consumption
Support POC’s to evaluate 3rd Party and open-source capabilities, testing capabilities and technical fit against build options
Leverage DevOps skills to create secure and scalable deployments for AI tools and capabilities
Support development or provisioning of security, compliance, privacy and responsible AI controls
Build and maintain integrations between the AI platform and enterprise systems, data platforms, and business applications
Operate and extend deployment, monitoring, and governance capabilities for AI solutions, keeping them scalable and reliable
Implement and extend testing, evaluation, and quality-assurance frameworks for AI applications
Implement and operate security, compliance, privacy, and responsible-AI controls across the platform
Support teams to optimise the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of AI workloads
Produce technical documentation, and apply and help refine platform standards and best practices
Partner with product, platform, data, and engineering teams to support and accelerate adoption
To be successful in this role, essential skills and experience include:
Software engineering and cloud:
Strong software engineering in Python, with experience building APIs, microservices, and cloud-native services
Cloud-native development and containerisation with Docker; our platform runs primarily on AWS (Bedrock, AgentCore)
Familiarity with CI/CD and platform-engineering practices
AI and LLM application development:
Hands-on experience developing AI agents, RAG frameworks, tool/function calling, and multi-step workflows
Practical experience with at least one AI orchestration framework (e.g. LangGraph, CrewAI)
Working knowledge of vector databases and retrieval systems (e.g. Qdrant, PGVector)
Security and governance:
A working understanding of security, identity, and access control as applied to services, models, tools, and integration endpoints
Awareness of data-handling, privacy, and responsible-AI considerations when working with model providers
Desirable / nice to have:
AI observability, evaluation, and monitoring tooling (e.g. LangSmith, Braintrust, DeepEval)
Orchestration with Kubernetes
Enterprise integration patterns and robust API design
MLOps / LLMOps experience beneficial
Exposure to more than one major cloud beneficial
Experience applying governance and compliance controls in a regulated industry
Systems thinking, with a bias toward reusability, scalability, and developer experience
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, enjoys working with cutting-edge technologies and has a passion for creating efficient, innovative solutions in fast changing ecosystem, preferably with exposure to Insurance / Re-insurance.
