AI Product Engineer (Chatbot & NLP Specialist)
Summary
Calmado Labs seeks a part-time/contract AI Product Engineer (remote-friendly, based in Pune) to build a niche AI chatbot product end-to-end: selecting and fine-tuning LLMs, implementing RAG pipelines, handling vector indexing, and building/deploying backend APIs. Core stack: Python, LLM tools (GPT-4, LangChain, Hugging Face), FastAPI/Flask/Node.js, cloud and Docker.
Compensation: ₹50,000 – ₹75,000 • No equity

About the Role: We are looking for a highly skilled AI Product Engineer who can take ownership of building a niche-focused AI chatbot product from scratch. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to architect, develop, and scale intelligent systems using cutting-edge AI technologies. You should be confident working across the stack—handling everything from data preparation and model selection to deployment and iteration.
Responsibilities:
Architect and build a full-stack AI chatbot product Select and integrate appropriate AI/LLM models (GPT-4, LLaMA, Mistral, Claude, etc.) Fine-tune or customize models using specific domain data Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines with tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack
Design and deploy backend infrastructure to support chatbot interfaces
Build and expose APIs for chatbot interaction (to integrate with web, mobile, or other platforms)
Handle data ingestion, storage, and vector indexing (using Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or similar)
Ensure performance, security, and scalability of the application
Iterate quickly based on feedback, analytics, and real-world usage
Required Skills:
Proven experience building AI/ML-based products (not just experiments) Strong grasp of LLMs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI systems Deep experience with Python, APIs, and NLP libraries (Transformers, OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain) Backend expertise (FastAPI, Flask, or Node.js) and database familiarity (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
Experience with vector databases and document indexing Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deployment tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience building and deploying full AI chatbot products Understanding of frontend integration (basic React/Next.js experience is a bonus) Familiarity with agile/product-first environments and user-centered design
