Description

Looking for an AI Product Manager (with software engineering experience) for a research-focused, product-based, US-based startup. SciSpace is an AI-native platform for scientific research, designed to support researchers across their everyday workflows. SciSpace is building the AI Research Co-Scientist—a product that helps researchers understand, create, collaborate on, and publish research faster. The company uses large language models to automate and streamline research workflows and make high-quality research more accessible to researchers, academics, students, universities, publishers, and R& D teams globally. SciSpace is an AI, education technology, SaaS, and enterprise software company based in Bengaluru. The product has reached millions of users and operates in a fast-moving environment with frequent AI-powered feature launches, a high-ownership culture, and an ambitious mission to reshape how research is created and consumed.

The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated, empathetic, passionate about helping others, can communicate effectively with diverse groups, and has a desire to build a positive relationship with our users. Knowledge of research writing is not a must; however, applicants interested in the domain are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Own the SciSpace Agent for Research Workflows end-to-end. Define vision, strategy, and roadmap for an AI agent that assists researchers.
  • Build a modular, extensible agent platform that works across multiple research domains and user segments.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, NLP, design, growth, and data teams to deliver an agent-first research experience.
  • Do prompt engineering and evals for agentic systems.
  • Translate ambiguous user problems into structured product requirements and intelligent system behaviors.
  • Continuously refine the agent through user insights, experimentation, and iterative learning loops.
  • Work closely with software development teams on defining, designing, and delivering high-quality products; provide feedback on architecture, design, and priorities.
  • Interact with the design team to convert product requirements into actionable prototypes.
  • Work closely with engineering to flesh out the product requirements into clear executable tasks with quick time-to-market and optimal resources.
  • Use a combination of outstanding analytical skills, business judgment, and strategic thinking to innovate and create world-class experiences.
  • Take initiative. Don't wait to be asked. Plan efficiently while avoiding analysis paralysis.
  • Proactively filling communication gaps amongst all team members. We believe good communication solves half the problem.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in software development in product management or similar roles.
  • Must possess a good understanding of LLMs, agentic systems, orchestration, and modern AI architectures.
  • Have experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and AI evaluation techniques.
  • Experience leading product design through the entire lifecycle, from concept and wireframes to MVP and final release.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM-based agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent).
  • Be comfortable defining and optimizing system-level metrics such as accuracy, completion rate, latency, and user trust.
  • Experience working with engineering teams to define, scope, and prioritize product requirements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, with the ability to drive alignment and decision-making at multiple levels.
  • MS/BS degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent preferred.
