AI Product Owner
Job Description:
Job Description: AI Product Owner
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Base: $80,000 - $90,000 CAD (OTE: $100,000 CAD)
About the Role
Constellation Payment Processing is a modern Payment Facilitator (PayFac) empowering SaaS businesses to grow revenue through seamless, embedded payments. As part of Constellation Software Inc. (TSE:CSU), a global Canadian-based software leader at a $96B market cap, we combine the agility of a specialized payments company with the strength and stability of an established global powerhouse.
We are hiring a hands-on AI Product Owner to serve as the primary product interface between our partners and our engineering teams. CPP is in the middle of a defining transition, migrating our merchant portfolio from a legacy platform onto CSIPay, our owned, AI-first payment gateway. In this role you will translate real partner needs into production-ready features on CSIPay, owning the backlog and working shoulder to shoulder with Engineering to ship exactly what our partners require, when they require it.
This is a deliberately partner-facing role that leans left. You will embed yourself early in the lifecycle, sitting alongside both the commercial and technical stakeholders at our partners to shape requirements before a line of code is written, then carry those requirements through delivery and validation. You will be expected to spend more than 30% of your time meeting directly with partners, and travel may be required throughout the US and Canada for partner meetings.
This role reports to the Lead PM on the CSIPay gateway. You will partner closely with Engineering, R&D, Product, Design, Commercial, Risk and Partner Success to deliver the features and integrations that keep our migration on track and our partners successful.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Partner Engagement & Discovery (Leaning Left)
- Serve as the primary day-to-day product point of contact for an assigned book of partners, spending more than 30% of your time in direct commercial and technical conversations with them.
- Embed early in the lifecycle to uncover partner problems, workflows and integration constraints, capturing requirements at the source rather than downstream.
- Travel to partner sites for discovery sessions, working sessions, pilots and cutover support as needed.
- Act as the voice of the partner inside CPP, ensuring their priorities are represented in every backlog and delivery decision.
Backlog Ownership & Delivery
- Own, groom and prioritize the product backlog for your partner-facing scope, balancing partner urgency, migration commitments and technical dependencies. Utilizing AI-DLC and AI Tools for immediate prototyping and delivery.
- Write clear, testable user stories, acceptance criteria and specifications, and make timely accept or reject decisions on delivered work.
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning and daily collaboration with Engineering, keeping the team unblocked and focused on the highest-value outcomes.
- Work with Engineering to get the exact items partners need into production, sequencing work so commitments are met without compromising quality.
AI-DLC Ways of Working
- Apply CPP's AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) across your work, using AI to accelerate discovery, requirements capture, story and spec generation, test case creation and documentation.
- Champion an AI-first mindset within the delivery team, continuously finding ways AI can improve product quality and shorten time-to-market.
- Prototype and validate concepts rapidly with AI tooling to de-risk decisions before committing engineering effort.
Requirements & Specification
- Translate partner needs into precise, engineering-ready requirements, including API behavior, field-level mapping, data migration rules and edge cases.
- Maintain clear traceability from partner request through specification, delivery and acceptance.
- Partner with Engineering and R&D to pressure-test feasibility and define pragmatic, scalable solutions on CSIPay.
Launch, Validation & Iteration
- Coordinate pilots, UAT, rollout and cutover activities directly with partners, including migration waves off Payrix onto CSIPay.
- Own launch readiness for your scope, including test validation, rollback expectations and go/no-go criteria, and drive fast post-launch iteration based on partner feedback.
- Provide clear, honest status to partners and internal stakeholders, including transparent reporting of risks and misses.
Stakeholder Communication
- Align stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Commercial, Risk and Partner Success, communicating trade-offs, decisions and delivery timelines clearly.
- Keep partners informed with structured updates, and keep leadership informed with concise reporting on delivery progress against partner and migration commitments.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- 3+ years as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager or equivalent, owning a backlog and delivering software with an Agile engineering team.
- Proven payments experience operating on, building or maintaining payment systems across Card and ACH rails, ideally for US payments. PayFac experience is not required.
- Proven partner-facing or customer-facing experience, comfortable leading both commercial and technical conversations and building trust with external stakeholders.
- Strong requirements craft, translating ambiguous needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and engineering-ready specifications using AI.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with Engineering day to day, prioritizing and sequencing work to ship exactly what customers need.
- An AI-first mentality, with hands-on use of AI tools across discovery, requirements, prototyping, testing and documentation, and a defined track record of using AI to improve quality and speed.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to move fluidly between a partner boardroom and an engineering standup.
- Willingness and ability to travel for partner meetings.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience at a PayFac, payment gateway, or ISV-first platform.
- Payments domain knowledge: PayFac model, merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB, tokenization, routing, settlement and payouts, chargebacks, and interchange.
- Technical proficiency with APIs/SDKs, webhooks, event schemas and integration patterns, and comfort reading API documentation.
- Experience supporting platform migrations or large-scale data migrations.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalent) and product analytics.
- Degree in a quantitative or technical field (CS, Engineering, Math, Stats, Economics).
