AI Research Engineer
Summary
AI Research Engineer at an AI-driven regtech company automating compliance and anti-money-laundering workflows for financial institutions. Day to day: build, fine-tune, and evaluate LLM, agentic AI, and computer vision systems with benchmarking and MLOps pipelines. Office-based in Central London 4-5 days/week; £80k-£120k plus equity.
Salary: £80,000 - 120,000 per year
Requirements:- 3+ years of experience in AI research, machine learning, or AI engineering
- Strong experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and model fine-tuning
- Experience building, testing, or deploying agentic AI systems
- Knowledge of model evaluation, benchmarking, and MLOps best practices
- Passion for emerging AI technologies and solving real-world problems
- Experience with computer vision is beneficial
- Build, evaluate, and optimise LLM, agentic AI, and computer vision systems
- Fine-tune and train custom AI models for specialist compliance applications
- Develop benchmarks, back-testing frameworks, and evaluation pipelines
- Implement continuous improvement loops using human feedback and model iteration
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to deliver AI-driven features

In this role, youll work with a highly talented team and have significant ownership of AI development, with the opportunity to influence product direction and our AI strategy. The position is based in Central London and is office-based four to five days per week. The salary range is £80,000–£120,000, with equity, bi-annual salary reviews, annual equity refreshes, and four weeks of remote working abroad. Salary will depend on experience, qualifications, and skills.
