Air Freight Planning & Procurement Specialist / Supervisor

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, sourcing, and managing air freight capacity and transportation solutions to support business requirements. This role focuses on carrier procurement, rate negotiation, shipment planning, capacity management, and ensuring cost-effective and reliable air freight operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop airline partnerships by maintaining the company's existing airline products while identifying and expanding strategic airline and capacity resources to ensure competitive service offerings and reliable cargo space.
  • Planning by develop daily, weekly, and monthly air freight shipment plans based on customer demand, production schedules, inventory requirements, and delivery commitments.
  • Pricing and capacity solutions by responding promptly to quotation requests, evaluating multiple routing options, and recommending the most cost-effective and operationally efficient solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with airlines and business partners through regular communication and collaboration, ensuring access to the latest market intelligence, including flight schedules, freight rates, capacity availability, seasonal trends, and market developments.
  • Monitor airline capacity and optimize space utilization by matching shipment requirements with available airline capacity, maximizing space allocation, and supporting profitable shipment planning.
  • Coordinate booking and shipment execution by arranging booking confirmations, following up with airlines and agents for confirmed space allocations and ensuring all booking details are communicated accurately and promptly.
  • Track shipment progress and resolve operational issues by monitoring flight schedules, cargo movements, and shipment status, proactively identifying potential disruptions, and working closely with operations, customer service, and overseas offices to ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
  • Support procurement initiatives by negotiating with airlines and service providers to secure competitive freight rates and favourable capacity commitments.


Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in air freight planning, procurement, or freight forwarding.
  • Experience in air freight procurement, logistics planning, or transportation management.
  • Knowledge of airline operations, freight forwarding, international shipping processes, rate negotiation with airlines and logistics partners.
  • Good communication and management skills .
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and freight forwarding systems (e.g., CargoWise or similar platforms).
