Job Summary
Responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing and commissioning commercial and industrial water-cooled and air-cooled chiller systems. The role requires independent diagnosis of mechanical, refrigeration, electrical and control faults to ensure reliable and efficient chiller plant operation.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water-cooled and air-cooled chillers to ensure optimal operation
- Service centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers according to manufacturer specifications
- Troubleshoot compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion valves, and refrigeration circuits to identify and resolve faults
- Conduct refrigerant recovery, vacuuming, pressure testing, leak detection, and refrigerant charging to maintain system integrity
- Service chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, and cooling towers to support chiller system performance
- Replace compressor oil and filters and verify operating parameters to maintain equipment reliability
- Diagnose and repair electrical panels, motor starters, variable speed drives (VSDs), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and building management systems (BMS) controls
- Perform testing, commissioning, and verification of chiller plant performance to meet operational standards
- Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
- Prepare detailed service reports, maintenance records, and technical recommendations for clients and management
- Maintain and service HVAC/ACMV equipment including air handling units (AHU), fan coil units (FCU), and VRV/VRF systems as needed
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in commercial and industrial chiller servicing
- Experience servicing Daikin, Trane, Carrier, York, McQuay, Mitsubishi Electric, or equivalent chillers
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, chilled water systems, condenser water systems, and cooling towers
- Experience working in hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, data centres, or mission-critical buildings
- Ability to read P&ID drawings, electrical schematics, and control diagrams accurately
- Experience troubleshooting PLC, BMS, and VSD systems
- Possession of Class 3 Driving Licence is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency breakdowns after office hours when required
