POSITION SUMMARY

An aircraft painter is responsible for preparing aircraft surfaces, mixing and applying paint according to specifications, and inspecting the finished product for quality. Key duties include surface prep (cleaning, sanding, masking), mixing coatings, using spray guns, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, documenting work, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace. This role often requires experience with aircraft or automotive painting and may involve working on both large aircraft and smaller parts.


JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Surface preparation: Cleaning, stripping, sanding, and masking aircraft surfaces before painting.
  • Paint application: Mixing primers, sealants, and topcoats to manufacturer specifications and applying them with equipment like HVLP spray guns.
  • Quality control: Inspecting the finished paint job for quality, adhesion, and to fix any imperfections.
  • Compliance and documentation: Adhering to FAA regulations, environmental rules, and company safety protocols, as well as documenting all work performed.
  • Team collaboration: Working with other maintenance teams to schedule projects and meet deadlines.
  • Detailing: Applying logos, symbols, and performing touch-ups as needed
