Airport Inspector Electrical
Job description
An airport electrical inspector oversees the installation and testing of electrical systems, including airfield lighting, power distribution, and backup systems, ensuring compliance with aviation standards and project specifications.
They perform inspections, verify materials and workmanship, and ensure adherence to safety codes and quality requirements. The role focuses on system reliability, operational safety, and uninterrupted power supply to critical airport facilities.
Monitor activities to ensure the work is performed as required by the contract and meets or exceeds the required quality standards.
Conduct regular surveillance of site work against documented processes.
Conduct a review of work pack documentation and validate test data as meeting specified requirements and/or within tolerance.
Ensure incorporated materials on projects comply with the plans and specifications.
Attend as the company-nominated representative for discipline witness and monitor intervention points on site construction inspection and test plans (ITPs).
Produce formal reports of inspection carried out on the site.
Monitor contractor works and provide data, reports, and inputs to management as required.
Liaise with the company and contractor quality personnel to ensure that the requirements for client representation at hold, witness, and test points are understood.
Provide quality representation at toolbox talks and promote the right first-time approach.
Inform themselves of the relevant quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, manuals, and procedures within the company and ensure continued compliance with these requirements while employed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
Minimum 8 years work experience on large-scale projects; supervision consultant or main contractor experience is essential.
Computer literate, with ability to use email, Excel, and Word to compile, produce, monitor, and interpret operational data and reports.
Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Possess the ability to supervise effectively, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
Must demonstrate a flexible approach to operational requirements in order to meet business objectives.
Must demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Experience of working internationally, with preference for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) experience.
