Overview

The Alliance Engineering Manager will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada based in Toronto. The Alliance Engineering Manager will support the delivery of Engineering Services on large and complex projects (generally Class 3, 4 & 5 projects) while also supporting the growth of the Engineering Management practice.

Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Engineering Management practice, the Alliance Engineering Manager will be assigned to a project and be responsible for the design integration for specific alliance delivery packages during design. The Alliance Engineering Manager is supported by the Engineering Integration Leads and reports to the Program Engineering Manager on the project.

In addition, he or she will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Project Delivery, Technical TPO, external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, good technical expertise, and multi-disciplinary engineering experience.

Your role

The duties shall include but not be limited to:

  • Client point of contact for Alliance technical integration and systems engineering.
  • Issue log coordination.
  • Requirements Management.
  • Design Integration.
  • V&V Management.
  • Technical Contractual Requirements.
  • ICD Management.
  • Safety Management.

(Lead, approve, validate, standardize, ensure, authorize)

  • Accountable for the technical integrity, quality, and consistency of the engineering scope, including compliance with technical requirements, codes, standards, and approval of engineering deliverables. CJV point of contact for Alliance technical integration and systems engineering. Ensure project processes and procedures defined in the EMP & PMP are executed.
  • Coordinates engineering activities across all disciplines to ensure technical consistency, while supporting the interface between the client and the Design Team. Work with integration leads and Design Leads to ensure interdisciplinary coordination and identify design issues issues/EWNs at the earliest opportunity and record in the project issues log. Work with MX/CJV to ensure ICDs are in place and followed to support management of external interfaces.
  • Monitors engineering progress, technical performance, risks, and issues to ensure compliance with the schedule, scope, and quality objectives. Inclusive of: Deviations management, including early identification and ongoing management with CJV & MX.
  • Prepares and manage key engineering documentation, and ensure information management's team procedures and quality checks are being followed during design delivery.
  • Supports engineering teams by coordinating and reviewing technical inputs, overseeing the development and maintenance of risk and hazard documentation, ensuring alignment with project requirements (V&V Management) and standards, and providing engineering support from a client–consultant perspective. Ensuring Safety Management tasks are completed.

About You

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in in engineering or a related discipline, with 10+ years of relevant experience on transit projects, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, highly regulated project environments.
  • Has strong expertise in the leading multidisciplinary design of large‑scale transportation infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage technical interfaces, risks, costs, and schedules at the scale of a major program.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with executive‑level stakeholders, authorities, and external partners.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range 124,300 to 170,900 annually. (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
