Alternate Format Assistant
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

The Accessibility Resources for Students Office is dedicated to ensuring that the Alternate Format Assistant has the necessary support—both inside and outside of the classroom—to fully realize your musical, academic, and personal potential at Berklee College of Music. The Accessibility Resources for Students Alternate Format Assistant will primarily assist in the alternative format conversion of course text. The student will report to the Accessibility Resources for Students Access Advisor. The Accessibility Resources for Students Alternate Format Assistant must uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information.The Student Success Center (SSC) provides academic support for students through a variety of services including Student Success Advising, Study Abroad, Core Music Tutoring, Accessibility Resources for Students, International Student Services, and Student Success Programs.
(90%) Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Reports to Accessibility Resources for Students Access Advisor
Assist Accessibility Resources for Students staff with converting required texts, music, and course material into accessible documents for registered students and faculty
Maintain inventory of alternate format texts and materials
Maintain required records of service provision and logs of requested materials
Assist staff in developing, collecting and managing data related to service delivery
Comply with FERPA regulations
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Accessibility Resources for Students Director and Access Advisor based on interest and abilities
(10%) SSC Responsibilities
Answer phones, screen calls, and check/log voicemail
Monitor ticketing system for unresolved phone messages, and respond appropriately
Provide frontline coverage as needed
Knowledge & Skills/Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Berklee undergraduate degree program
Availability to work hours between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Mondays through Fridays
Literate in musical composition and using notation software (Sibelius)
Familiarity with Berklee’s undergraduate and core music curriculum is required
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn and utilise new technology platforms
Maintain confidentiality
Detail-oriented
Excels in a fast-paced environment
