Ambulance Operator – Patient Transport / EMS Support

JOB SUMMARY:

Join A-MED Ambulance, a locally owned and operated EMS provider in New Orleans, delivering over 25 years of trusted service. As an Ambulance Operator, you will provide safe, compassionate, and reliable non-emergency patient transport while assisting EMT partners in patient care according to A-MED protocols and standards of practice.


COMPENSATION:

Start $14.50/hr with free EMR training

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid Class D Louisiana driver’s license.

- Must meet all criteria set forth by our vehicle insurance carrier.

- Completion of the A-MED Ambulance Operator training curriculum during onboarding.

- Maintain all permits, licenses, certifications, and training as required.

- Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screenings.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to lift and carry patients and equipment, including stretchers, up and down stairs and over uneven terrain.

- Capable of carrying equipment and traveling on foot for several hundred yards.

- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and assist in patient movement.

- Adequate hearing and speech to communicate with patients, families, and emergency personnel.

- Visual acuity sufficient for safe driving and patient observation.


MENTAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations and prioritize patient care.

- Ability to safely calculate medication dosages, read and interpret instructions, and operate vehicles and equipment under varied conditions.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare providers.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Work may occur in well-lit and fully equipped ambulances or in challenging conditions such as poorly lit environments, public settings, and outdoor spaces.

- Must be able to perform in all temperatures and climates, in the presence of bystanders, and during emergencies.

- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and hostile situations.
