AME Seedcare & Biologicals Head and Third Party Manager
Role overview
We're seeking an exceptional commercial leader to drive our growth strategy for the Seedcare & Biologicals Business Unit across Africa Middle East (AME). This role offers the opportunity to Shape the Future of Sustainable Agriculture, impact food security and agricultural innovation while leading a high-performing team toward ambitious growth targets.
The key objectives of the role include but not limited to:
- Define Seedcare and Biologicals Commercial Unit (CU) ambition and strategy, and drive implementation
- Drive acceleration of our differentiated 5YP growth strategy for Seedcare and Biologicals
- Responsible for the Seedcare & Biologicals portfolio strategy development to secure existing business, develop new markets and unmet opportunities that will deliver new levels of performance and benefits to growers
- Work with Business Areas (BAs) on setting the budget / priorities and ensure adequate resources
- Responsible for working together with BAs to provide clear guidance on focus and priorities, to develop customized campaigns that ensure technology use growth and reflect a deep understanding of grower and market needs.
- Contribute to regional strategies to ensure representation of AME needs.
Main accountabilities
- Develop and deploy the AME Seedcare and Biologicals strategy
- Define financial and market share targets with BAs for short and mid/long term
- Plan and manage the AME budget including FuCo, A&P and Capex
- Drive the delivery of the defined strategy and business targets, including the implementation of indication plans and key launches
- Ensure correct resourcing of the defined strategy at BA and CU level with AMEA and AME.
- Track BA sales delivery and forecast during the year. Provide support at capturing sales upsides and at sales downsides mitigation.
- Develop differentiated and segmented commercial offer combining products, services, know-how, that allow market value creation and extraction
- Approve the portfolio development plan with AME Portfolio Team. Define portfolio requirements for AME and develop business cases for new ideas & products
- Actively shape and manage product Life Cycle with AMEA and AME support
- Contribute to AME Business Sustainability targets
- Ensure Development of staff in order to secure succession plans and capabilities to deliver business ambition
- Develop engagement and motivation of team by ensuring equity and actively promoting diversity, Inclusion and wellbeing.
Overarching accountabilitites
- Act as AME Third Party Manager for the BAs in the CU
- Identify and lead Cross BA value chain partnerships
- Manage cross BAs Distribution partnerships for designated geographies/segments
- Identify and pursue 3rd party in/out-licensing opportunities to support ambition delivery
- Lead all strategic & operational processes between Region & AME
- Ensure partnership framework governance and continous stakeholder alignment
- Ensure Syngenta's full compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework as well as Syngenta's own legal and ethical, HSE, Corporate Security, Risk Management and Corporate Governance standards.
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
Critical qualification & experience:
- University degree in agriculture, business, or related field
- Mininmun 10 years of experience working in marketing and business management within agriculture or parallel industry
- Third-party deal structuring & partner performance governance experience
- Proven track record of successful management of people/processes
- Effective management of high achieving and diverse teams
- Demonstrated capabilities to support commercial operations
Critical Knowledge:
- In depth understanding of crop agronomy and pest control practices
- Excellent analytical, strategic, communication and presentation skills
- Financial acumen
- Marketing, Products, Business, Syngenta processes, Sales, Development
- Understanding of market, channel need to ensure innovative GTM approaches
- Understanding of the seed industry, crop protection, Seedcare and /or Biologicals and on the farm activities
- Deep understanding of commercial and development concepts
- Ability to influence indirect relationships throughout the global business
