Job Summary:
The Amenities Operations Specialist is responsible for contributing to the growth of the Jekyll Island Authority's e-commerce operations, supporting point-of-sale, ticketing, and reservation systems across amenities and retail locations, and enhancing the overall customer experience. This position serves as the primary liaison between departments and system vendors to ensure efficient operations, effective staff training, and consistent service standards. The role also oversees online merchandise sales, donation initiatives, customer feedback monitoring, and reporting to support organizational goals.
Description:
E-Commerce Operations
  • Working with the Director of Retail this position will be responsible for the JIA online retail store, including product selection, merchandising, photography, content creation, inventory coordination, order fulfillment, and shipping.
  • Maintain accurate product listings, descriptions, pricing, and inventory levels on the e-commerce platform.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase online sales, customer engagement, and brand visibility.
  • Identify opportunities to expand online merchandise offerings and enhance customer shopping experience.
  • Support and promote online fundraising and donation initiatives.
Operating Systems Administration
  • Serve as the primary liaison for point-of-sale, reservation, ticketing, and related operating systems used throughout JIA amenities and retail locations.
  • Responsible for monitoring and creating performances for ticketed events, programs, and special events following JIA procedures and best practices.
  • Collaborate with directors and managers to improve operational efficiency and system utilization.
  • Coordinate system updates, testing, troubleshooting, and vendor communications as needed.
  • Develop and deliver staff training on POS, reservation systems, and operational best practices.
Customer Experience
  • Monitor customer feedback through surveys, reviews, and third-party platforms.
  • Analyze customer trends and prepare monthly performance reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate with Training & Development Manager to facilitate biannual customer service training programs for staff.
  • Provide coaching and support to departments to ensure delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns and identifying opportunities to improve service quality.
General Responsibilities
  • Build collaborative relationships across departments to support organizational goals.
  • Recommend innovative solutions, processes, and technologies that improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and customer focus in all interactions.
  • Assists Sr. Director of Amenities in other Amenity operational management as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field with two (2) years of related experience OR
  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent with five (5) years of related experience.
  • Related experience includes sales, e-commerce, customer experience, point of sale systems with experience in Shopify, Vivaticket, Yellow Dog preferred.
  • Proven exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be outgoing, personable, friendly, and love working with people.
  • Must demonstrate strong ownership of assigned responsibilities, with the ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage work to meet deadlines and achieve results.
  • Microsoft Office skills required. Photo editing software preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • More than 50% of the typical workday will fluctuate between standing and seated.
  • Between 25 and 50% of the day will be spent walking, lifting, grasping, feeling and climbing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Less than 25% of the day will be spent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sitting.
  • Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating, talking and hearing.
  • Must have visual clarity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned as well as close visual clarity to prepare, analyze data and figures and operate and view a computer.
  • Majority of work is expected to be performed within an indoor environment.
  • Noise level is considered quiet to normal.
