Analyst (12-month fixed term role)

About the Team

The Analysis team plays a crucial role in ensuring Pharmac and the wider health sector has trusted, timely and well‑interpreted business information to make high‑quality investment decisions that will create meaningful impacts on health outcomes for all New Zealanders.

The Focus of this Role

  • Supporting our developing data analysis and analytics capability in our Medical Devices work programme. Tasks range from data cleaning and integrity checks to drawing insights.
  • Contribute to regular Medical Devices Reporting.
  • Investigate and advise on data quality issues that may arise from using the data. Ensure the integrity of data with intermittent quality checks.
  • Supporting the forecast and calculation of $2.7 billion in Appropriations, $1 billion rebate calculations and maintaining related dataflows and checks.
  • Various ad hoc data requests.

About You

You are an adaptable, can-do team player who is comfortable pivoting as priorities shift - no two days are the same. You thrive in an environment where flexibility and responsiveness are key, your mahi is appreciated and you are valued.

We are particularly interested in candidates with the following:

  • Strong SQL skills.
  • A proven track record investigating and resolving issues with underlying data
  • Ability to identify, explore and analyse trends and patterns in data with a high attention to detail and enjoyment of problem‑solving
  • A qualification in a quantitative, analytical or financial discipline
  • A passion for continuous learning and improving analytical processes
  • Familiarity with Health sector data (an advantage)
  • Familiarity with QLIK Sense (an advantage)

Joining Pharmac | Te Pātaka Whaioranga

The base salary range for this position is $75,646 - $102,086 total remuneration. Most new starters are typically appointed up to the midpoint of the range, depending on the knowledge, skills and experience they bring to the role.
