Analyst, Asset Management (15-month contract)

Summary

Analyst manages infrastructure investments in Toronto, building financial models, tracking KPIs, and ensuring compliance and data integrity for Canada Infrastructure Bank.

Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.

The Analyst, Asset Management, will be based in Toronto and report directly to the Manager or Senior Manager, Asset Management. The Analyst will be responsible for executing on a range of asset management activities to preserve value and mitigate risk throughout the investment lifecycle of assigned assets. Responsibilities include leading and supporting post-financial close activities, proactively managing asset performance, developing and maintaining complex financial models, serving as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, and contributing to management reporting. The role will also support system implementations and execute processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of investment data.

This role is ideal for a Project Finance professional who thrives on accountability, strategic engagement and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in asset management or in the execution of infrastructure (P3 or project finance) deals, corporate finance or investment banking. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills—someone who is comfortable engaging across the CIB.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the onboarding of new investments including coordinating with management teams and following processes and procedures for ongoing compliance
  • Maintaining and building project finance/infrastructure financial models and performing various quantitative analyses
  • Preparing investment updates to various stakeholders including quarterly presentations and annual reviews
  • Validating funding requests and coordinating fund flows between CIB and counterparties (i.e., construction draws, interest charges and amortization repayments, etc.)
  • Overseeing financial performance, including cash management and forecasting, covenant compliance, and scenario analysis
  • Updating amortization schedules and maintaining liquidity forecasts for existing and prospective investments
  • Proactively engaging with counterparties for early risk detection and resolution strategies
  • Serving as the lead asset owner for some assigned investments
  • Supporting the establishment of processes to ensure data quality and integrity across the CIB portfolio, including quarterly reviews, validation and publication of the finalized dataset used across reporting and analyses
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives and special projects that enhance the CIB’s asset management capabilities
  • Tracking and maintaining KPIs for each investment
  • Collaborating with the Finance and Risk teams on Annual Internal Rating Reviews including the calculation of Expected Credit Losses (“ECLs”)
  • Working with IT to create dynamic, automated reporting

Your ideal profile:

  • Candidates who are members of an Indigenous community bring valuable experience and perspectives which are beneficial to this role
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure investments, private equity, investment banking or corporate finance
  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law or Accounting is considered an asset
  • CPA and/or CFA designation (completed or in progress) is considered an asset
  • Proficient in building and reviewing financial models
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data risk and data management principles
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
