Analyst Benefits (All Levels)

SUMMARY

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for administering benefits, including health and welfare as well as retirement plans.

This position requires the ability to analyze and understand plan documents and assist with implementing processes and services that provide dependable benefits and maintain excellent customer service.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in business or another applicable field. (Required)

EXPERIENCE and ABILITIES

Experience in benefits administration (years commensurate with level)

Experience may include preparation of reconciliations of financial transactions and accounts or benefits accounting; strong understanding of laws and regulations regarding benefit plans; investment analysis and financial concepts as applied to retirement plans

The ability to actively engage with legal counsel, benefit providers and actuaries

The ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners; streamline processes, integrate, and associate pieces of information gathered from multiple sources and apply to projects

The ability to analyze and interpret data, problem solve, and perform complex calculations with accuracy

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

CEBS Certification (Preferred)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments and eligibility in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information

Assists with new-hire orientations

Performs quality checks of benefits-related data enrollments, contributions and eligibility

Prepares and distributes all retirement plan information and legally required notices

Ensures that all retirement plan census data is accurate and that timely preparation of data for vendors and actuaries is prepared accurately and on a timely basis

Budget for benefit plans

Performs duties as a subject matter expert in benefit plan management and administration

Responds to benefits inquiries

Assist with or lead the open enrollment process

Works closely with accounting, external vendors and actuaries and auditors to provide information and data to support accurate and timely reporting

Gather, organize and present information to plan fiduciaries

Facilitate resolution for retirement plan related customer service issues and administrative errors

Conduct periodic audits to ensure accurate data contained in HRIS and vendor systems

Other duties as assigned

Ability to comprehend, and interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Understands company goals and objectives and is sensitive to emerging issues which may impact the company. Ability to provide advisory assistance to all levels of management

Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure. Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments at the same time. Ability to analyze difficult problems, present effective alternative solutions and anticipate future consequences

WORKING CONDITIONS

Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed

Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week

Normal office environment

Some work is stressful, and involves working with people in strained situations

Continuous viewing of computer monitor may be required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Local and regional travel to attend meetings is required. Occasional overnight travel may be required for meetings and training
