RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Portfolio Analyst to support retail portfolio management, pricing strategy, and market analysis activities within Singapore's evolving energy market. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing market dynamics, managing portfolio data, developing forecasting models, and providing insights that shape trading and retail pricing decisions.
QUALIFICATIONSResponsibilities
- Support day-to-day portfolio management activities, including retail sales transactions, hedging activities, and portfolio position monitoring.
- Analyze electricity market fundamentals, supply-demand dynamics, and competitor developments to identify risks and opportunities. Conduct market and competitor assessments, including SWOT analyses, to support commercial decision-making.
- Develop and maintain analytical models to support portfolio forecasting, market analysis, trading strategies, and retail pricing decisions.
- Review regulatory consultations, policy papers, market reforms, and industry developments. Assess their potential impact on the Company's commercial strategy, portfolio performance, and market outlook.
- Gather, consolidate, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to support business insights, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of transactional databases, portfolio records, and reporting datasets.
- Develop, automate, and enhance management reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI to provide insights into portfolio performance, market trends, and key business metrics.
- Monitor developments in Singapore's electricity market, including centralized generation planning, the Centralised Gas Procurement Framework, electricity imports, renewable energy initiatives, and energy storage technologies.
- Critically evaluate how changes in market structure, competitive dynamics, fuel markets, regulatory frameworks, and broader energy sector developments could impact portfolio performance, business strategies, and forecasting models.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across commercial, trading, operations, and regulatory functions to support business initiatives and strategic projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the energy sector, particularly electricity markets, portfolio management, power trading, and retail pricing.
- Comfortable working with large, complex, unstructured, or incomplete datasets and transforming them into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with databases, data models, and data analytics tools.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, or similar analytical tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market developments and translate them into commercial insights.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, curious, and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge existing processes.
- Prior experience in the energy industry, utilities sector, commodity trading, risk management, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- For experienced candidates, demonstrat project management capabilities and the ability to mentor, coach and guide junior team members.
