Analyst, Quality Assurance
- Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles
- Create and execute test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications
- Ensure existing test scripts are revised as applications are enhanced over time
- Work on cross-departmental teams to review user stories and UI/UX specifications to create thorough testing requirements
- Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed
- Enforce and monitor adherence to quality standards
- Conduct sprint reviews/demos of new functionality to stakeholders
- Superior knowledge of the Software Development Project Life Cycle (Agile/Scrum)
- Ability to provide risk assessment during backlog refinement, sprint planning and development sessions
- Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and user stories, fulfill UI/UX specifications, and identify existing or potential issues
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential problem areas in IT systems and projects across the organization
- Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, stress, performance, and acceptance testing methods
- Make recommendations for improvement of applications to programmers and software developers or engineers
- Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to scrum team, stakeholders, and management
- Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality
- Test any new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications
- Analyze formal test results to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws
- Participate in developing, distributing, and coordinating in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications
- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices
- Participate in the definition and maintenance of automated test plans and scripts
- Participate in planning and execution of stress and load testing of sites and features
- Explore opportunities to continuously improve quality assurance processes, procedures, and protocols
- Mentor and coach junior level quality assurance team members
- College diploma or university degree in software engineering, computer science, or business administration and/or 5 years equivalent work experience
- 4 years direct experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing
- 2 years direct experience as a lead tester for major application integration and/or major application product release
- Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies
- Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
- Ability to integrate technical and quality assurance knowledge into existing work process environment
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks and ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative and fast paced environment
