Summary

Analyzes and improves US credit/debit bureau reporting policies for American Express, using SQL and data insights to reduce rejections and enhance governance.

This position is part of a highly motivated and innovative US Credit / Debit Bureau Outbound Reporting Policy & Analytics team within the Credit and Fraud Risk organization. This team owns the strategy and policies that govern how US Consumer, Small Business, and Corporate accounts are reported to the consumer, commercial, and debit bureaus, among other priorities. The incumbent will have the exciting opportunity through analytics and strategic thinking to collaborate with colleagues across the enterprise to elevate the quality, governance, freshness, and efficiency of US outbound bureau reporting policies.

  • Generate data-driven insights into the US consumer credit and debit bureau reporting process, helping to identify and size potential gaps.
  • Leverage external data analytical environment for competitor bureau-reporting analytics and benchmarking.
  • Investigate individual customer complaints and escalations from a bureau reporting standpoint.
  • Perform analytic work aimed at mitigating the volume of records being rejected by the bureaus.
  • Assess and quantify opportunities to enhance bureau reporting process.
  • Support testing and validation of bureau reporting process changes.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams in Operational Bureau Governance, Risk Capabilities, and others within Credit and Fraud Risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (Business Analytics, MIS, Statistics); Master’s a plus.
  • 1-3 years of relevant analytics experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Self-starter with experience managing multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to translate a problem/question into a clear, efficient analytic approach.
  • Proven ability to summarize, visualize, and communicate data findings to a less technical audience.
  • Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with SQL; experience with Hive or Python is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization is preferred.
